As elements, this project “STACK AND BIND, your thoughts unwind” came to us in the process of exploring our second theme “STACK AND BIND”. Not only by physically stacking and binding objects, we saw new possibilities and fun that could emerge by “stacking and binding our thoughts” with many others.

The knowledge and technology accumulated by the people who came before us through time, were gradually formed to create a dialogue, as various motives and thoughts were mixed together, and many failures and successes stacked, in different times and places where they continued to interact with each other.

On the other hand, when we start making things, we tend to set a target value and repeat the process of trial and error as we work our way there. However, when you work on your own, it becomes harder to break out from the targeted boundaries and thoughts you had set your mind to. Even when you work as a group, under various conditions, your thoughts may get stacked in a single and linear direction, and in many cases, may not have you conform to what has been predetermined.

Based on this realization, as a trial case, we made a commitment to make things, where the elements’ three members send each other material without revealing what they are, then passing them on to the next person with whatever they have added, as if exchanging letters back and forth (without informing others of their intentions, and merely sending the material back and forth.)
Following this method, the person on the receiving end will form a blind dialogue with the material that was sent (in other words, the thoughts of the sender), and add the next attempt to it.

These moves occasionally created a distance from what the sender originally intended, hence breaking the predetermined balance. However, on the other hand, it could contain new discoveries or surprises that may have never emerged if it was done by a single player.

So be part of the process to STACK AND BIND, and let your thoughts unwind.
